Who We Are

At Huatulco Food Bank, we approach food distribution with care and dignity, recognizing the deep need in Huatulco. Rather than a first-come system, we rely on a referral network, working closely with local government agencies, churches, and the Rotary Club. Through this, we receive weekly requests for those in critical need, allowing us to distribute about 100 bags each week. Each bag, valued at around $25, provides basic staples like rice, beans, soap, and toilet paper—enough to sustain a family of four for a week.

Huatulco has faced many challenges, from hurricanes to the COVID-19 pandemic. Two years ago, with help from the marines, we airlifted 3,500 bags to isolated communities after landslides, and we supplied many soup kitchens during the pandemic. Recently, a large local grocery began donating near-expiration items, which has expanded our resources—and our workload. Thankfully, local churches have stepped in to support us, helping us meet the growing demand.
